Hi everyone: Here's the situation I am facing. I have an HP notebook. It has a CD-DVD drive. However, I want to purchase an external CD burner. A couple
of questions: 1. What kind of burner should I get? I want to be able to burn audio CD's as well as text to CD 2. What program (s) will work with this using
jaws 5.1 with windows XP Pro? 3. What kind (s) of CD's should I buy? I think these are all my questions, at least for now! If anyone could help with this,
it would be greatly appreciated!!! Type your reply below. 4000 characters max. Reply

You know, I have a cd burning program called Roxeo. you can try it. thow, it came already installed with my computer. I think Roxeo would work with JFW 5.1.

I just got a CD burning program called Premier CD DVD burner. It is designed spesifically to work with a ScreenReader. It can be found at www.readingmadeeasy.com

Nero Burning Rom is also quite accessible with JFW. Fuji CDs are the best, but cheaper CDs are OK too though you'll get some errors and waste a few CDs. Also, CDex is a great little program for extracting CDs and CD wav is great for tracking them.

haha I have an external cd/dvd burner if ya want to haggle a price. lol I bought it like a couple weeks before I got my new compy which came with a dvd burner so I no longer need it. As for software nero works great for burning dvds, but I prefer using roxeo for plain cds

If your drive is a CD/DVD combo drive, I'd be surprised if it didn't have CD burning on board... Check the specs on the hp web site. As mentioned before, CDEX is very good for audio file extraction, especially when you get the remote CDDB set up correctly! As far as all in one burning apps, roxeo easy cd and dvd creator six has worked very well for me so far. Don't buy a version above six though as they are not accessible! As far as blank CDs, any brand made in japan should be reliable. I've had bad luck with Indonisian and Chinese CDRs... Any name brand should be fine though.

Nero burning rom all the way. It is accessible with jaws. it does take a bit of getting used to and messing around with all the options, but once you learn how to use it, it's quite accessible. Rocsio cd creator works well too. I've use both programs and I recommend the two of them.

You can also get a free program called express burn which is very accessible with jaws etc. That would allow you to burn music and data CDS etc.

If you'd like me to send you the program or dig up the URL, let me know.

Nero all the way. It's fast, and easy to use.
